Taxiway and taxilane centerline markings are provided to assist pilots in maintaining proper clearance
from pavement edges and objects near the taxiways/taxilanes. Taxiway markings include hold lines
located on the entrance/exit taxiways serving Runway 16‐34. The hold lines are situated 250 feet from
the runway centerline. The hold line positions function to keep aircraft from entering the runway envi‐
ronment without clearance.
Airfield Lighting and Signage
Airfield lighting and signage systems extend an airport’s usefulness into periods of darkness and/or
poor visibility. A variety of lighting systems are installed on the airfield for this purpose. These lighting
systems at the Airport, categorized by function, are summarized as follows.
Identification Lighting
The location of an airport at night is universally indicated by a rotating beacon. The rotating beacon
projects two beams of light, one white and one green, 180 degrees apart. The rotating beacon at Ar‐
lington Municipal Airport is located atop the ATCT. The ATCT is situated on the west side of the Air‐
port, in a midfield location approximately 1,300 feet from the runway.
Runway and Taxiway Lighting
Runway and taxiway edge lighting utilizes light fixtures placed near the pavement edge to define the
lateral limits of the pavement. This lighting is essential for maintaining safe operations at night and/or
