ties at Arlington Municipal Airport that include the FBO located on the south side of the terminal area,
as well as a flight school and aircraft sales and service providers located north of the terminal area.
Aviation Residential uses include low level activity facilities that serve a primary purpose of storing
based aircraft. The most common use is for general aviation aircraft T‐hangars and small linear box
hangars. Daily activity for these areas is relatively low as the aircraft owners will commonly operate
only sporadically throughout the week, or less often. Aviation Residential areas should be located in
less conspicuous areas set farther back from the higher activity areas and do not require immediate
flight line access. There are currently Aviation Residential land uses in different areas on the east side
of the Airport. The largest area consists of multiple T‐hangars and linear box hangars south of the ter‐
minal area. It is important to note that the Aviation Residential land use designation in this study is
associated with aviation‐related activities only and does not authorize non‐aviation related functions
associated with the residential use (housing) of people within a hangar facility.
Non‐Aviation Related uses are allowed on airports for areas not required for aviation purposes. In
some cases, airport land inventories allow for Non‐Aviation Related uses as long as the areas are not
accessible to the airfield. This use could support commercial, industrial, or business park development
and would provide the airport with an opportunity to improve revenue streams on land that would
otherwise remain vacant. Currently, only a small area of property immediately north of the terminal
building with direct access from South Collins Street is utilized for Non‐Aviation Related activities.
Table 4D provides a detailed listing of the aviation land uses previously discussed. The alternatives to
follow will further outline areas on airport property that could potentially accommodate these various
land use designations.
