Civil Service Commission The City of Arlington Civil Service Commission consists of three members appointed by the Arlington City Manager. The Commissioners serve staggered three-year terms with the term of one member expiring each year. The Commission may, by majority, vote and make rules for the administration of the Texas Local Government Code Chapter 143. Pamela Roach Chair cindy dao Vice Chair Pete Jamieson Commissioner The Civil Service Director shall administer these (City of Arlington) Local Rules and perform work incidental to the Civil Service System as required by the Commission. All communications or requests to the Commission shall be made in writing to the Director, who shall determine if the Commission has jurisdiction over the matter. The Director shall also act as Secretary to the Commission. The Commission may designate one or more person(s) as deputy secretaries of the Commission. yoko matsumoto director human resources Civil Service - Year Two It was a busy year for Arlington’s Civil Service Commission as two entry-level exams were conducted in compliance with Chapter 143 and Local Rules. Separate exams were given for firefighter candidates and fire inspector candidates. Both tests were conducted in order to fill expected vacancies in the Fire Department. Additionally, there were four promotional exams conducted for the Fire Department’s Operations Division and two promotional exams for the Prevention Division. The Commission held test question appeal hearings for positions of Apparatus Operator and Lieutenant. Civil Service Local Rules adjustments were approved by the Commission in February and July of 2019. The Commission’s first chair, Chaplain Richmond Stoglin's term ended on June 26, 2019. Pamela Roach became the Commission’s next chair, while Cindy Dao was appointed as new Commissioner on June 27, 2019. 5
