he Copper State Peruvian Paso Club
members in the colder climates are
enjoying the winter weather with their
gaited horses. We are featuring La Estancia
Alegre in New Mexico where the snow and
brisk temperatures find the horses at their
very best.
Barbara Windom, one of our New Mexico club members, has been
a long time owner and successful breeder of Peruvian Horses. La
Estancia Alegre (LEA) has been breeding, training and showing
Peruvian horses since 1995. Concentrating on breeding a horse that
is strong and well-gaited, Barbara is fortunate that the horses can
be raised in pastures with ample grass and irrigation from the Rio
Grande which is invaluable to keep the horses healthy and sound.
Each year La Estancia Alegre hosts Mark Bolender clinics where
participants can learn new ways to conquer extreme trail. The ranch
has terrain and obstacles that will instill pride in the rider and
confidence in both rider and horse. Visit the LEA website at www.
