Buckeye Days Stampedes Into the West Valley
JANUARY 21st, 27th, 28th & 29th
W
ild west action is coming to Buckeye. Be
sure to join us for the 5th annual Buckeye
Days Celebration.
The action begins at 2PM on Saturday, January 21st
with Bulls and Sheep. This event features top bull
riders doing their best to beat the 8 second clock
on some of the toughest bulls in the country. One
lucky spectator will get to be a part of the action.
There will be a bounty bull worth $500 to the rider
if he is successful or to the spectator if he isn’t.
Youngsters will get their chance at fame during the
mutton bustin’ event. Twenty kids 5 to 7 years old
will go “wild and wooly” in our favorite event. It all
takes place at the Historic Helzapoppin’ Arena on
Miller Road in Buckeye. Gates open at noon with
adult tickets $10 and kids under 12 FREE.
Enjoy events at the rodeo slack runs on Friday,
January 27th 10AM at Helzapoppin’ Arena. Then
mosey over to the Buckeye Valley Museum on
Monroe Avenue for a great BBQ dinner at 6:30PM.
Proceeds benefit the museum façade project.
Don’t miss the only annual cattle drive in the
valley. Saturday morning, January 28th at
9:30AM things get rowdy with the cattle drive
and parade. Fifty head move down “Main Street”,
better known as Monroe Avenue, on their way to
the arena. Cowboys, outlaws, saloon girls, bands
and floats cause quite a raucous following the
cattle west on Monroe Avenue. This years’ Grand
Mar-shall will be western actor Don Collier who
starred on TV in the “High Chaparral” and with
John Wayne, and James Arness in films. Come
early to get a good spot.
Dr. Buck’s Wild West show on the 6th Street Plaza
opens with a bang both Saturday and Sunday.
Expect to see gunfights, stunt shows, magic,
live music, rope tricks and more. There will be
pie eating contests, costume contests and gold
panning for the kids. Festival food, beer and craft
vendors will be on hand. Shows run both days
from 9AM until 5PM. Adult admission is $8, kids
ages (5 to 12) $4 and 4 and under are free.
The wild west action continues at the Helzapoppin’
Arena on Saturday and Sunday with the Buckeye
Days Senior Pro Rodeo. Gates open at noon and the
excitement starts at 2PM with the Mutton Bustin’
Rodeo. Billed as a legal form of child abuse kids 5-7
years old will battle frisky mutton for prizes . The
rodeo performance b egins at 3PM where cowboys
and cowgirls will compete against bulls, broncs,
barrels and each other. Adult tickets $12, Students
(13-17) $8 and kids 12 and under are FREE.
Make sure to stay for the Steak dinner and Live
Auction following Saturdays performance at the
arena. Enjoy real cowboy eats featuring juicy
steaks, cowboy beans and fixin’s sure to please.
Items for the auction will be on display before
and during the din-ner, then get set for some
fast and furious bidding with our auctioneer and
volunteers. Proceeds from the auction benefit
Buckeye Lions and Buckeye Rotary Scholarship
funds. Dinner tickets are $12.
