In “ The Censors,” it tells a story of a young man Juan, who applied for a job at a government censorship office. To take back a letter that he once mailed out to one of his close friends, Mariana. Mariana left to go to Paris, and by Juan mailing that letter to her in Paris, he would put both of them in jeopardy. While in the process of all this, Juan began to get absorbed by his job at the post office. He started to get promotions and he started liking his job, eventually he found his letter, and he was happy. For finding this letter that he sent he was fired the next morning for censoring his own letter when he wasn’t supposed to. In “The Censors,” Luisa Valenzuela used Theme and Imagery in order to keep the readers intact to this story and to learn a lesson from the story on how to make choices between good and bad.
Luisa Valenzuela had lots of parts in the text that were very relative everyone could understand the mood, and diction because of her use of Imagery. While Juan was working at the post office, the author described how the place looked and how it was a environment that someone wouldn’t want to be in. “ The building had a festive air on outside that contrasted with its inner soberness”(Valenzuela 966). I don’t know about other readers but this sentence explains anything about that work place to me. If the work environment is sober
