A Lasik candidate must be over 18. The ideal age to undergo Lasik is in mid and
early-20’s.
Candidates should not have any recurring eye diseases like glaucoma, corneal
disease, optic nerve diseases, keratoconus, cataract, etc.
A candidate must have a stable vision for at least a year, at most to be eligible for
Lasik surgery.
A patient must have the financial means to pay for his Lasik surgery and attend all
post-operative check-ups as recommended by his specialist.
Candidates must have generally good health and not suffer from any of the
aforementioned ailments.
Patients must have a corneal thickness of a minimum of 0.5 mm. Very thin corneas
are not applicable for Lasik surgery. So, if you have a thinner cornea it is advised
that you find alternative solutions by consulting your trusted optometrist.
Ensure that you stopped wearing contacts a few months prior to Lasik surgery. The
reason being, contacts can lead to infections or corneal abrasions that might
tamper the Lasik procedure.
