7.1 PEDAGOGY
The pedagogy of MOOCs has been discussed at length in other studies in a
standalone context. (Caulfield, 2013; Daniel, 2012; Haggard, 2013; Knox, Bayne,
Macleod, Ross, & Sinclair, 2012). Blended learning with MOOCs is interesting
because they bring together two kinds of pedagogy. The xMOOC offers the
Behaviourist pedagogy with structured content and domain specific knowledge that
can be learnt on a more descriptive level and the cMOOC which is using a
connectivist approach where the idea is for the learners to be able to connect and
construct their own meanings. In a MOOC context both of these pedagogies can be
