In order to ensure that the students were actually participating on the MOOC he
would give the students a quiz as they walked into the class on that weeks lectures.
He also gave the students additional readings to those that the MOOC would
provide, which meant that they had a lot of homework to do to prepare for his class.
There was a disconnect between the materials on the MOOC and the assigned
readings in the class. This was because the materials covered on the MOOC didn’t
fit entirely with the materials in class.
