Are MOOCs impacting on-campus students? Jul. 2014 | Page 3
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to acknowledge the support and generosity of my line manager,
Professor Hugh Davis for his guidance, encouragement and for allowing me the
time and space I needed to carry out this research.
Many thanks to my colleagues at the Centre for Innovation in Technologies and
Education for their encouragement and interest in my work.
Thank you to my colleagues across the University of Southampton and beyond who
have allowed me to share my ideas about MOOCs and for not looking bored.
I would like to extend my appreciation to Dr Christine Sinclair, my supervisor, who
has remained calm and measured in her Skype calls to me and has encouraged me
enough to make me think.
I am indebted to Dr. Margaret Anderson for being my hotline for all things MOOC all
the way from Georgia, USA.
Special thanks go to my family, for recognizing when I need my space, and knowing
that I will appear from my office one day. Most importantly to Miles and Ella without
your support this wouldn’t have even started.
And finally to Jim. Thank you for putting up with me and believing I can do this and
so much more.
