AORN’s Susan Root Discusses the Perioperative Workplace of the Future As the economy continues to rebound from the recent recession, Baby Boomers are reaching retirement age, impacting specialized clinical roles such as perioperative nursing. A 2014 AORN Salary and Compensation Survey reports that roughly 50% of perioperative nurses in the workforce are age 50 or older.
