BIOCLIMATIC BEHAVIOR OF THE BUILDING
An important aspect of the design has been the creation of a building with sound bioclimatic behavior,
through simple, easily recognizable visitor modes. Thus, the building becomes an environmental informa-
tion tool. Specifically, we aimed at reducing heat losses during winter, as well as summer heat gain in the
following ways:
• A compact rectangular shape reduces the exposure to outside temperatures. Thus, winter heat losses
and summer heat losses are reduced.
• The construction of a compact housing with a high thermal mass, results in increased heat capacity and
thermal insulation capacity of the building.
• The adoption of a double outer shell in the building, with externally ventilated façade of corten sheets,
contributes significantly to the cooling of the building’s second (waterproof) housing. The thermal con-
