Patios
Two patios are arranged successively between the interiors of the entrance, the en-
vironmental education room and the exhibit room, enriching the architectural com-
position and the spatial relationships through space, revealing to the visitor moving
through the building, the surrounding natural environment.
Materials, Colors, Textures
Cavo Greco’s materials, colors and textures were matched directly or indirectly with
the main materials of the construction. Thus, the rocky landscape and the forgotten
stone walls extend to the ambiguous character of the walls of metal cages filled with
rocks. The oxidized soil coats the building with an oxidized steel housing. Juniper
“aorati” and wild olive trees are transformed into rough timber, that springs to the
ground defining routes, while the discreet use of water brings back the sweet mem-
ory of the sea and the forgotten Protaras’ reservoirs.
