Materials, Colors, Textures Cavo Greco’s materials, colors and textures were matched directly or indirectly with the main materials of the construction. Thus, the rocky landscape and the forgotten stone walls extend to the ambiguous character of the walls of metal cages filled with rocks. The oxidized soil coats the building with an oxidized steel housing. Juniper “aorati” and wild olive trees are transformed into rough timber, that springs to the ground defining routes, while the discreet use of water brings back the sweet mem- ory of the sea and the forgotten Protaras’ reservoirs. 29
