Plants and greenery are used throughout the space. This assists
in improving air quality, acoustics and the overall visual aesthetic of
the interior. Green design is also incorporated through the choice
of finishes, placement of work spaces in relation to light, acoustic
design and services design.
An industrial look is achieved through the use of materials and
exposed services juxtaposed against contemporary design.
Public Spaces
The client facing areas make an impact and reflect the core values
and vision of Total to the visitor by using sleek, contemporary lines
which showcase an innovative, ‘ahead of the times’ company.
The design is slick with clean edges, modern materials and the
use of light contemporary timbers. A sense of Total’s industrial
background is reflected through the use of reconstituted/ recycled
materials such as stone and timber which also add warmth and
depth to the space.
Total South Africa
Public spaces promote communication through the use of
glass writing boards and reflective, transparent surfaces. Audio
visual displays in these areas show technology, innovation and
responsibility towards the environment, knowledge sharing and a
commitment to the global village.
Comfortable furniture, which is generous in size yet still sleek
and contemporary, was used in these areas. The artwork selected
is both modern, local and unique. A combination of original pieces,
prints, sculpture and photography was selected.
The colour palette uses muted neutrals with accents of vibrant
colours which reflect Total’s corporate identity.
Leather upholstery to contemporary chairs is used in the
boardroom and meeting rooms.
It was important that clients and visitors should feel invited
and comfortable and experience a sense of integration with the
employees who work with them. This is achieved through visual
links from the public spaces into the work areas.
