installed according to the thermal zoning of the building,
and each fan coil is fitted with a Pressure Independent
Control Valves (PICV) & EC Fan motors that varies
the amount of cooling/heating based on the room
temperature to ensure a maximum level of comfort.
Heating is achieved by the reverse cycle heat pump
capability of the chillers, with the hot water being
reticulated through a dedicated closed loop piping
system to the in-ceiling fan coil units. This system
decreases electrical demand of the building by a third
when compared to electrical resistance heating.
During times when the building is running under
generator power only, the system can be configured to
run only using the thermal storage in the tank to provide
limited cooling. This reduces the size of the building
Multichoice City
generator and the amount of diesel consumed during
emergency power operation.
Construction
Group Five were the Main Contractors on the construction
of MultiChoice. The 96,000m2 building with 60,000m2
basement parking and plant rooms with 36,000m2 offices
and atrium space had the makings of all the challenges
for a building to be constructed in the required time.
The state-of-the-art services and multiple colourful
finishes required superb planning and management to
complete the high quality building in time. Group Five
was especially proud of the safety record achieved of
over a million incident free working hours and thank
all involved, with a special thanks to the people who
