LITHIUM-ION BATTERY FIRE EXTINGUISHER RANGE
SafeQuip , a leading distributor and manufacturer of fire safety solutions , launches the SANS 1910-2022 approved , Lith-Ex fire extinguisher range , which carries NTA 8133:2021 ( KIWA / POOO55865 ) test approval , proving its lithium-ion battery fire extinguishing capability . Lithium-ion batteries power devices , such as mobile phones , power tools , and electric bikes . However , these batteries present the potential for catastrophic lithium-ion battery fires . Conventional extinguishing agents often fall short when faced with lithiumion fires . To combat this , SafeQuip , in partnership with AVD Lith-Ex , introduces a solution : Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion ( AVD ). AVD represents a revolutionary fire extinguishing agent developed in response to the demand for lithiumion battery fire solutions . It consists of naturally occurring vermiculite combined with water , delivering superior performance compared to traditional agents . AVD is applied as a mist composed of fine water droplets containing vermiculite platelets . Upon contact with the burning fuel , AVD suppresses flames and cools the fuel source instantly , bringing the fire under control . As the mist evaporates , vermiculite platelets overlap and bind together , forming a barrier film that extinguishes the fire . This barrier serves three critical functions : preventing thermal propagation , isolating the fuel source , and providing an oxygen barrier and ultimately stops re-ignition . www . safequip . co . za
CRDC SOUTH AFRICA & RESIN8
The Centre for Regenerative Design & Collaboration South Africa ’ s ( CRDC SA ) mission is to create appreciating value & impact from unrecyclable , mismanaged plastic waste by converting it into an Eco-Aggregate called RESIN8 . RESIN8 facilitates the creation of Innovative Green Building Technology concrete and asphalt construction products . The strategic aim is to divert all mismanaged plastic waste from landfill , to collect waste plastic from the environment through CRDC ’ s socially beneficial program called The Bag That Builds ( TBTB ) and to provide employment and business opportunities in the supplychain through collaboration .
CRDC have created a groundbreaking new innovative green building technology that takes all 7 types of plastic waste & converts it into a lightweight Eco-Aggregate , called RESIN8 . The replacement of a percentage of natural aggregates with RESIN8 in concrete products adds or maintains the strength , reduces weight , and increases the thermal properties of these concrete products . The potential to regenerate natural , social and built environments and the positive impact on job creation , overflowing landfills , the environment and infrastructure development across the African continent are limitless . www . crdc . global
