CURRO ACADEMY MBOMBELA ASSEMBLY HALL
Curro Academy Mbombela ’ s new assembly hall is set to become a focal point of the school precinct . Designed to accommodate a variety of functions , the hall will serve as the heart of school life , hosting indoor sporting events , assemblies , choir practices , exam sessions , and afterhour functions . Designed by BPAS Architects , the project began in June 2023 and construction kicked off in July 2024 , with completion expected by July 2025 . The vision behind this project is to provide a flexible , multi-purpose space that will foster a sense of unity and serve the evolving needs of the school community . A striking design feature is the large , curved blue wall that will define the building ’ s façade , blending modernity with the natural beauty of its surroundings . Nestled in the scenic valley near the Kruger National Park hills , the hall is thoughtfully placed to integrate with the region ’ s natural landscape , offering a serene backdrop for students and visitors alike . This hall will be more than just a building - it will be a place where memories will be made , talents will be nurtured , and the spirit of community will thrive .
LION ’ S HEAD , CONRADIE PARK , CAPE TOWN
dhk Architects , in collaboration with Jakupa Architects and Urban Designers , are about to break ground for a new addition to the Conradie Park mixed use development in Thornton , Cape Town . Titled Lion ’ s Head – a name which is in keeping with the convention for naming the buildings in the development after significant peaks in the Table Mountain range – the new building will feature a mix of residential accommodation above retail and commercial office uses .
The ground-level retail complex will be anchored by a major supermarket . This will be surrounded by smaller stores to cater to residents ’ daily needs . The parking area is located above the retail units to activate the ground floor urban realm around the building . The building is due for completion during 2025 .
From the second floor upwards , Lion ’ s Head will house diverse residential options , rising six levels above the parking area to eight floors . Residential
