CLEAN AND ELEGANT AESTHETICS CHARACTERISE STRIKING SCULPTURAL STRUCTURES
The work of Petra Maierhofer of Artep Studio ‘ s recently caught our attention on Instagram . Her work portfolio showcases a wide range of designs characterised by clean and elegant aesthetics , high-quality materials , and traditional artisanal techniques . Each custom piece reflects a unique creative vision and Petra aims to balance classic and modern , industrial and organic and bold sculptural forms with simple lines . The approach is grounded in practicality , inspired by architectural elements , and driven by a curiosity about human behaviour , resulting in designs that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics .
In 2013 Petra relocated to Cape Town from Austria with her family and renovating their new home rekindled her creative spirit . When COVID-19 hit , she began experimenting with leftover materials from her backyard and garage . Her son Noah insisted on showcasing her creations on Instagram , which ultimately led to the birth of the concept for Artep Studio .
Artep Studio has since grown from a small boutique format into a spacious studio with a full production cycle . The goal was to disrupt the market organically , offering a hands-on approach to art and design . You could say it is a bit less intellectualised , but instead focused on the aesthetics of the existing interior . Petra ’ s approach to art is very hands-on , following her heart and diving into it . She believes that decor is not just an addition ; it ’ s an integral part of a space ’ s aesthetics . Over time , she has specialised in creating sculptures and modern Bas-Relief structures that express movement and flow through architectural principles , and all pieces are fully customisable .
Great design and great relationships come from collaboration . Petra believes in the power of teamwork and take pride in working closely with clients to design something beautiful together , fuelled by the synergy of diverse perspectives and
expertise . What she values most is collaboration based on trust . She enjoys taking a designer or architect ‘ s seed of an idea and transforming it into a visual concept , making the customer a co-author of the artistic journey . Petra ’ s willingness to think outside the box is slowly but surely earning recognition in
Petra Maierhofer an industry that increasingly embraces unique perspectives . A good example would be the Weylandts project . Burning a pattern with fire onto their vertical Thatch Installation was an exciting and very intense experience .
Petra wants her pieces to radiate . “ You have to be able to put your ego on the side and get into the process of creating . It is like magic . Sometimes more focused on ethos than style , I am relentlessly curious , allowing me to embrace that unique perspective in every new creation ,” she says . www . artepstudio . com
