to provide a platform for a narrow aisle storage system . Floors were designed in accordance with international floor specifications . The floor levelness was specified as a DM1 application for Very Narrow Aisle ( VNA ) lift trucks , and FM2 specification in the circulation space . Consultation was done with the client to understand their business activity of inbound and outbound stock movements to design the docks , doors and apron suitable for their typical yard traffic .
The facilities bulk storage system dominates over 70 % of the warehouse area with 20 % allocated for their picking area . This area is currently planned as a ground floor only system and has the ability to quadruple its height for future business growth . The client can add manual multiple tiers , picking platforms or alternatively incorporate a goods-to-man automated system if such business activity demands it .
The logistics and storage design systems applied are world-class solutions that are typical of similar parts distribution facilities in Europe . The client conducted significant research and undertook visits to similar operations in Europe and Asia before finalising the system design .
A unique design of the out-of-aisle platform was planned with the narrow aisle storage system and has locally designed pallet gates which are unique to the application . The overall conveyor systems include telescopic conveyors that facilitate the quick offloading of container loads and direct goods to capturing of receipts and palletising to the bulk warehouse .
