“ The Cape Town Stadium project required a unique bulkhead feature which the Focus™ DS Level Change system was able to provide to fulfil the Architects design criteria of a lightweight and aesthetically pleasing solution ,” says Le Grange . “ The challenges faced during the Covid-19 lockdown required some agility on the part of Saint-Gobain . Harold Webb , our Technical Specialist , had to think out of the box and constructed mock-ups in his own home - due to travel restrictions - to facilitate a speedier installation once we could access the site .”
Detailed Design The team at Saint-Gobain drew up a detailed project pack for the architects , the main contractor and the subcontractor , detailing all technical designs and specifications with images and text to ensure all parties are aligned with their exact requirements .
Project Construction Due to the dynamic nature of the alterations required for this project , Saint-Gobain required an agile supply of products to the site as they were needed . “ The material was sent directly to the site in order to eliminate product handling and facilitate the accelerated construction timetable ,” explains Le Grange . “ The installation also required following the layout curve of the Stadium and the Ecophon Focus™ DS provided the flexibility during installation to provide a seamless application .”
Similarly , the Gyproc Dry Walling team were on-site weekly to support contractors with the installation . “ One of the benefits of our Gyproc Dry Walling systems is speed of build versus conventional building systems , - we made sure that we were on-site weekly to support the contractors as they sped through the build ,” says Walters from Saint-Gobain .
Project Handover Although acoustic and thermal performance were not the primary requirements given to Saint-Gobain for this project , the stadium now boasts outstanding Class A acoustic ceiling components which also provide excellent thermal insulation . Ecophon Focus™ DS panels contribute to a healthy indoor environment with low VOC emissions in line with the strictest requirements .
Gyproc and Isover Dry Wall system solutions are designed with the Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort strategy which supports sustainable buildings for a more comfortable and healthy experience . The Gyproc and Isover systems provide enhanced thermal resistance whilst delivering superior acoustics . Gyproc systems holds a 10 year SpecSure Guarantee when installed according to specification and Gyproc installation guidelines .
Making the World a better home Saint-Gobain are extremely proud of their
