The Development Vision Old Mutual Properties started with a vision for the ultimate maximum build out , a vision that would create the finest shopping centre ; that would establish a dominant retail presence to the North of Durban in order to ensure long-term economic growth . The vision required the highest standards of design and craftsmanship in order to be the very best not only in South Africa but in the world . These attitudes were driven , from the top down , with an almost missionary zeal and played a major role in creating a culture of striving for excellence right down to the last worker on the job .
