Developed by Sasol Pension Fund , Pivotal Property Fund and Retail Africa , the mall is located at the intersection of the N14 / R28 highways and busy Hendrik Potgieter Road , west of Johannesburg . It enjoys a unique location near the world-renowned heritage site , the Cradle of Humankind . Cradlestone Mall offers shoppers an all-inclusive range of retail , restaurant and leisure variety under one roof .
To ensure maximum accessibility , the developers invested R60 million widening Hendrik Potgieter leading to the intersection , as well as upgrading the interchange at the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and the R28 .
The project was completed over a period of 22 months , which was an excellent accomplishment considering various labour and material challenges experienced on site . As in most retail and commercial developments , building cost is directly related to a required yield and thus also poses the difficult challenge of producing a cost effective design without sacrificing architectural creativity or quality of finishes . This design specifically represents an attempt at achieving just such a balance .
