Located in Hartenbos, Mossel Bay, Garden Walk Mall is a 20,000m2 neighbourhood retail and lifestyle centre designed to respond to the rapid growth of the Garden Route. Officially opened in March 2026, the development reflects a region that is evolving from a predominantly tourism-driven destination into an increasingly established year-round community.
The Garden Route has experienced significant semigration as families, retirees and professionals are drawn by its natural beauty, lifestyle appeal and sense of belonging. In towns such as Mossel Bay and Hartenbos, this population growth has been accompanied by expanding residential development and growing demand for accessible retail and essential services.
Garden Walk, positioned adjacent to the N2 and close to a rapidly expanding residential node, was conceived within this context. Its brief extends beyond simply providing a convenient shopping destination. Instead, the development seeks to create an environment where retail, social interaction, landscape, culture and community are brought together.
Owned by Moolman Group, Dorpstraat and Organic Coral Investments, with Moolman Group as lead developer, the project was completed over a 15-month period between January 2025 and March 2026. BAR Architects was responsible for the architectural design.
