The Mall of Mthatha, formerly BT Ngebs City, has been completely reimagined through a comprehensive R225 million refurbishment that promises to redefine retail architecture in the Eastern Cape and establish a new benchmark for regional shopping centres.
The 60,762m 2 shopping centre changed hands in May 2024 when it was acquired by specialist retail REIT Vukile Property Fund( JSE: VKE) alongside Flanagan & Gerard Property Group. The new ownership marked the beginning of an ambitious redevelopment. MDS Architecture was tasked with breathing new life into the substantial complex. The refurbishment was completed in October 2025, with the official launch celebrated on 18 November 2025.
