Accoya: Modified Solid Timber Accoya is a high-performance solid modified timber produced from fastgrowing, FSC-certified wood. Through a process known as acetylation, the wood is modified at a cellular level to significantly reduce moisture absorption. This minimises swelling and shrinkage and improves resistance to fungal decay.
Accoya offers Class 1 durability, high dimensional stability and a 50-year warranty above ground and 25 years in ground or fresh water. Its reduced movement can also help coatings maintain their integrity for longer, potentially reducing maintenance requirements.
The material is suited to windows and doors, large-format sliding and folding doors, decking, cladding, façades, pergolas, screens and exterior joinery. Its dimensional stability is particularly valuable where wide boards, tight tolerances and precise junctions are required. This makes it suitable for demanding conditions, including South Africa’ s coastal environments and areas of high UV exposure.
