The brief emerged from a desire to further enliven Battery Park and the Canal District Precinct, strengthening its role as a vibrant mixed-use environment that complements the area’ s offices, retail spaces, hospitality offerings and public amenities. The challenge was to introduce a substantial residential component while preserving and extending the urban qualities that have made Battery Park an important public destination and pedestrian connector within the city.
The project was initiated before 2018 but was halted and then restarted in 2024. Its completion in December 2025 marks a significant milestone in the continued realisation of the Canal District Precinct and the broader vision for Battery Park.
