safe and efficient egress without disrupting internal circulation. Accessibility is integrated across the design, with entrances, administration offices, communal facilities, and selected rooms responding to the sloping site. Accessible bedrooms, ablutions, and an additional first-floor laundry ensure inclusivity and ease of use for all students.
Accommodation Ravenscraig House offers both single and doublesharing rooms, including accessible units, all designed for maximum efficiency and comfort. Room sizes strictly comply with DHET standards, with single rooms measuring 8m ² and doublesharing rooms measuring 14m ².
The double-sharing rooms are carefully planned around a central privacy partition that defines two individual personal zones within a shared footprint. Each student is provided with a single bed, dedicated study desk, chair, task lighting, wall-mounted shelf, pinboard, mirror, heater, towel hook, and a lockable built-in cupboard. By integrating all furniture and storage into the architecture, circulation space is preserved and clutter is avoided.
Single rooms follow the same design principles, offering identical furniture and storage in a compact, highly functional layout. Shared kitchens and ablution facilities further improve spatial efficiency while maintaining high hygiene and accessibility standards. Across all accommodation types, the design prioritises dignity, privacy, and usability within a high-density environment.

communal study rooms, allowing students access to both quiet individual study environments and collaborative group workspaces close to their rooms.
Shared kitchens are a defining social feature, with four kitchens provided on each floor. These spaces are fully equipped with stoves, microwaves, fridges, and durable granite countertops. Each student is allocated a lockable cupboard, reinforcing personal ownership within shared living. Fixed dining furniture, integrated seating, and televisions transform kitchens into social hubs that encourage shared meals and daily interaction.
Additional communal amenities include games rooms, TV lounges, a landscaped central courtyard, and an upper-level terrace. Laundry facilities are located on the ground and first floors.
Interior Design The interior design of Ravenscraig House balances density, affordability, and quality through consistency, durability, and user-focused planning. All furniture is built-in or wall-mounted, minimising maintenance, improving hygiene, and reducing wear and tear. Material selections prioritise robustness and ease of cleaning, including tiled floors in communal areas, low-sheen washable wall finishes, and hard-wearing surfaces throughout high-traffic spaces. The interior palette is functional yet welcoming, reinforcing a sense of safety and comfort.
