Ravenscraig House is a purpose-built student residence developed by ADOWA Property Developers in Woodstock, Cape Town. A Platinum Award winner in the Student Accommodation category at the 2026 Reside Awards, the project responds to a carefully articulated client brief to provide a secure, comfortable and supportive environment for students leaving home to study further. Designed primarily for NSFAS( National Student Financial Aid Scheme) funded students, Ravenscraig House demonstrates how affordability, density and quality can coexist through thoughtful architectural design, durable interiors and efficient operational planning.

Client Brief and Project Vision The client brief was to create a“ home away from home” for students, balancing safety, comfort and opportunity for connection. ADOWA Property Developers sought a residence that fosters community, collaboration and lifelong social bonds, while maintaining alignment with the Department of Higher Education and Training( DHET) Student Housing Standards and the financial parameters of NSFAS accommodation allowances.
Compliance with DHET standards was essential to meet regulatory requirements and ensure the residence delivers dignified, functional student living spaces with adequate room sizes, study provision, amenities and safety systems. The brief prioritised long-term operability and durability, recognising the intensive use of highdensity student accommodation.
Ravenscraig House transforms a constrained Woodstock site into safe, affordable student accommodation, combining efficient planning, durable interiors and shared amenities that support community, dignity and academic success
