ITALTILE REVIVES THE ROMAN VILLA AESTHETIC
Echoing the intricate artistry of handcrafted tesserae in ancient Roman mosaic work, the Mainzu Mikron Kretas porcelain tile by Mainzu Cerámica channels the ultraluxurious era of opulent Roman villas. Exclusive to Italtile, this exceptional 20 x 20cm porcelain mosaic tile with its stone-effect texture and beige and white tones, arranged in delicate, tesserae-look patterns, mimics the ancient Opus Tessellatum technique used in villas and public buildings. DESIGN PARTNERSHIP REVITALISES RADISSON RED AT THE V & A WATERFRONT
Design Partnership revitalised the hotel’ s reception and guest experience through a bold, creative design approach aligned with the evolving Radisson RED brand. Located in the heart of Cape Town’ s cultural hub near the Zeitz MOCAA, the concept celebrated art, culture and playful hospitality through surreal design elements, vibrant detailing and flexible social spaces. Inspired by Radisson RED’ s bold design DNA, the reception space was crafted to inspire and delight, offering guests a comfortable retreat from the city.
Working within a live hotel environment, the project was carefully phased to minimise disruption to guests while delivering a refreshed, elevated arrival experience. The redesign introduced inviting lounge areas, integrated workspaces, artistic retail displays, a new concierge experience and adaptable hospitality elements that could transform for events and activations.
The project exceeded the client’ s expectations by delivering a high-impact transformation that enhanced the hotel’ s positioning and overall guest perception. The success of the reception refurbishment ultimately led to further appointments within the hotel, including additional room upgrades and ongoing projects with the Radisson brand.
