Soshanguve Mall presented an opportunity for Infin8 Surfacing to deliver durable, sculptural seating and integrated planter elements that complement the architectural vision of KMH Architects, while meeting the performance demands of a high-traffic public environment.

WHAT IS SOLID SURFACING?
Solid surfacing is a high-performance, non-porous material made from natural minerals and advanced acrylic resins. It is seamless, thermoformable, durable, hygienic, and easy to maintain, making it ideal for public spaces like malls. It can be: Thermoformed into sculptural shapes Seamlessly joined for a continuous appearance Repaired and refinished on-site
MAX ON TOP SOLID SURFACING
The project used Max on Top Solid Surfacing in Avalanche 7502 & Bone 8010. It provides consistency, structural integrity, and the workability needed for complex commercial fabrication, offering smooth curves and strength.
PROCESS – CONCEPT TO INSTALLATION
Architectural Brief & Drawings: KMH Architects provided concept drawings for benches and planters. Shop Drawings & Technical Development: Infin8 Surfacing developed detailed shop drawings addressing structural support, fabrication methodology, and installation requirements. Fabrication & Manufacturing: Using Max on Top material, benches and planters were CNC cut, thermoformed, and bonded. Delivery & Installation: The units were installed at Soshanguve Mall by Infin8 Surfacing.
OUTCOME
The collaboration between KMH Architects, Infin8 Surfacing, and Max on Top resulted in bespoke seating and planter solutions that combine architectural aesthetics, durability, and long-term performance. This project demonstrates how advanced solid surfacing materials, combined with precision fabrication, can transform architectural concepts into long-lasting functional design elements for high-traffic commercial environments.
