COSMOS DATA CENTRE CAMPUSES, CAPE TOWN AND JOHANNESBURG
The Cavaleros Group, in partnership with Knight Frank and Future-Tech, is proud to announce the launch of two landmark data centre campus developments in Cape Town( shown above) and Johannesburg. These state-of-the-art facilities, known as the Cosmos Data City( CDC) Campuses, will redefine Africa’ s digital infrastructure landscape. The Cavaleros Group is leading
this ambitious initiative to meet
the continent’ s escalating demand for cloud and AI workloads. Both campuses are strategically positioned within existing availability zones to ensure immediate connectivity and scalability. These projects will support the growing demand for cloud and AI workloads across the region and will look to service the majority of Sub-Saharan Africa. With both domestic and international deployments growing increasingly across South Africa, both sites are strategically located to provide immediate readiness for largecapacity deployments of significant scale. The South African market currently has around 700MW of committed capacity, with both colocation providers and hyperscalers providing significant capacity across both main metros. With record-low vacancy rates and a huge influx of global demand, nearterm power solutions are needed to service the growing need for the country’ s cloud and AI deployments.
ATLANTIC CORNER, SANDOWN, CAPE TOWN
Cape Town’ s northern growth corridor continues to attract significant investment, and one retail development drawing attention is Atlantic Corner, a contemporary neighbourhood shopping centre planned for the fast-growing suburb of Sandown.
Designed by Kris Lamprecht, Head of FWJK Architecture, Atlantic Corner presents a modern coastal architectural language that balances strong visual identity with practical retail functionality. Defined by clean lines, refined proportions and a carefully curated material palette, the design aims to create a centre that is contemporary in character while remaining responsive to its surrounding context.
A key feature of the development is its pedestrian-friendly layout, supported by landscaped perimeter edges and a prominent entrance element that establishes a clear sense of arrival. The external architectural expression is further reinforced through the use of layered blue paint tones, referencing the Atlantic coastline and strengthening the project’ s visual identity. These cooler hues are balanced by natural-toned tile finishes, introducing warmth, texture and durability, an important consideration for high-traffic retail environments.
Brand identity plays an important supporting role, incorporating the Black Oystercatcher, an iconic coastal bird synonymous with the Western Cape shoreline. This adds a distinctive and locally recognisable motif that reinforces the development’ s Atlantic-inspired character.
Atlantic Corner is positioned to serve Sandown’ s rapidly expanding residential catchment, offering a convenience-led tenant mix anchored by Checkers as the main anchor tenant, with Clicks as the sub-anchor tenant. The centre will also include additional national retailers, restaurant opportunities and specialised service stores, reinforcing its role as a convenient daily-needs destination. Generous parking provision, clear circulation routes and clearly defined access points have been prioritised to ensure efficient movement and ease of use for both shoppers and tenants.
As Sandown continues its transformation into one of Cape Town’ s most dynamic emerging growth nodes, Atlantic Corner is well placed to become a future retail landmark in the area. With a strong emphasis on functionality, placemaking and contemporary architectural execution, this is a development worth watching as it progresses towards completion.
