CURRENT AND FUTURE PROJECTS FROM SOUTH AFRICA AND ABROAD
OLYMPUS SANDTON
Property developer Tricolt Group, in partnership with Growthpoint Properties, recently broke ground on Olympus Sandton, a flagship R1.2 billion luxury residential development set to elevate the Sandton skyline and redefine mixed-use living in Johannesburg’ s most prestigious urban precinct. Located in the emerging Sandton Summit Precinct, the development occupies the precinct’ s highest elevation, offering unmatched 360 º views and forming the primary gateway into Sandton.
Designed by Australian-based firm ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects in collaboration with dhk Architects in South Africa,
the towers feature an alternating twist geometry that creates a dynamic visual rhythm and optimises views.
“ The site’ s position on the ridge places Olympus Sandton at the literal and figurative pinnacle of Sandton,” says Aram Lello, Head of Design for Tricolt Group.“ It is embedded within a future-focused, walkable, live-work-play precinct. As you crest the rise into Sandton, the two towers will appear sculptural and dynamic, an iconic entry point into the city.”
Growthpoint Properties has emphasised the strategic significance of Olympus as the latest development in its mixed-use Sandton Summit precinct, where it is shaping its vision to create South Africa’ s premier walkable mixed-use precinct. Growthpoint has been rolling out different elements of the Sandton Summit vision for over a decade. Situated at the high-profile junction of Sandton / Katherine Drive and Rivonia Road, Sandton Summit is anchored by Discovery’ s iconic head office building( co-owned by Growthpoint 55 % and Zenprop 45 %). Olympus Sandton is its first development in the precinct positioned to capture the increased demand for residential property in Sandton Central.
A key feature of Olympus Sandton is the addition of offerings from the Marble Hospitality Group, bringing a premium culinary and retail experience into the development. This includes the Marble Restaurant on the 18th floor with sweeping 360 ° views of Sandton and the Pantry by Marble on the ground floor of the podium facing Rivonia Road, activating the street edge.
The podium level will also house a lush sky garden, complete with a resort-style pool deck, a cocktail lounge area and a fully equipped gym.
Sustainability is integrated into the architecture, with natural light and ventilation a key design aspect of every unit. Performance glazing reduces heat gain, and the building boasts energy- and water-efficient systems.
Construction on Olympus Sandton will take approximately 26 months, with estimated completion in early 2028.
