NEW BUILDING - Long Section Through The Atriums challenge was to ensure that the professional team did not delay the rapid construction pace . During the course of construction the client added to the brief , which included the addition of two TV studios and a sound recording studio . Thus , the design evolved throughout the construction process , which required an adaptable design and technical approach from the team .
Interior Brief The client brief was to create an interior environment that serves to bring the various businesses of Primedia together under one roof in approximately 9,000m 2 of useable office area . The building and its interior spaces needed to facilitate connection between these various businesses and enable a connected workspace culture for this dynamic media organisation ’ s future . The overall interior aesthetic needed to be super minimalist and light and airy , whilst set against a raw and industrial base building background .
Interior Design Concept The design concept aimed to celebrate rather than hide the workings of the refurbished base building , services are exposed , materials shown in their raw nature and the balance of finishes light , simple , and clean . Transparency and openness were key drivers with spaces flowing seamlessly into each other , connected to the open atriums with cellular spaces confined to cores and centralised zones away from the edges .
Space Planning A double volume atrium with pop-up steel and glass lift services the main reception . One is led through security where two working radio studios for 702 and 947 dominate the ground floor , with
