from the corner arrival volume upwards to the central atrium and the high-level feature internal terrace above the glass box volume at one end of the space .
The heart of the building is the central generous rectangular atrium which creates a dynamic and active zone where staff and visitors can gather . The offices arranged around this node on higher floors benefit from the visual link to the energy and creativity of the space below .
The atrium connects with a partially covered terrace , and planting flows between the inside and out . The atrium also serves as a controlled light well which modulates the sunshine entering the building , tempering the building ’ s relationship with its surrounds .
Vertical Circulation The majority of staff and visitors will take the bank of shuttle lifts located on the Grayston edge of the site up to the atrium level on top of the parking structure . This gives everyone the same special sense of arrival and experience on entering the building .
From the atrium level , building users pass reception and security and enter the building circulation lifts . This bank of lifts is centrally located on the office floors , ensuring equidistant travel for departments and tenants as well as quick and easy inter-floor traffic . The central lifts also extend into the top two levels of parking , providing an alternative route for an executive tenancy for example .
Horizontal Circulation Along the atrium edge , the walkway and feature balcony linking the office wings complements the energy of movement of people up and down the building , and creates a sculptural form within the atrium volume . The wrapping of the office space around the atrium creates the opportunity for the co-location of the collaborative spaces .
