The first phase involved the extensive refurbishment of the Wanooka ( House ) a heritage building dating back to 1899 and was completed in 2010 . KPMG required a design that was sympathetic to their West Campus while respecting the heritage building Wanooka and the urban scale of the ‘ gateway ’ to the City , formed between the present West Campus and new East Campus .

While creating something with a signature and presence for the Client , it has been important to those residents in the neighbourhood that the low rise ‘ office park ’ feel in the area be retained .
Phase II of the KPMG East Campus has now been completed and Phase III has commenced on site . KPMG required 24,000m 2 of campus style office buildings using similar design and planning principles used at their recently completed building in Canary Wharf , London . The project required land assembly and land swaps with the City Council of Johannesburg .
Land Use Challenges and Building of the Bridge Link The land compilation for Phases II and III of the buildings was technically challenging . Firstly , an important component of the building is the bridge link
Phase II provides 11,820m 2 of offices with further executive entertainment facilities and 563 basement parking bays over 5 basement levels
