NEWSWATCH THE LATEST NEWS AND PRODUCTS FROM THE BUILDING INDUSTRY TWO NEW ADDITIONS TO THE TRELLIDOR ALUMINIUM RANGE NEWSWORTHY GREEN STAR EXPANDS THROUGHOUT AFRICA As the Green Star sustainability rating system continues to influence the design and delivery of buildings and communities around Africa, the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) has announced a rebrand. The Green Star SA rating system has been rebranded Green Star Africa to support its uptake throughout the continent. Green Star was originally developed by the Green Building Council Australia (GBCA), and was licen- sed to GBCSA in 2008 for use in South Africa. Green Star has been extensively adapted for the local African climatic, social and economic context, which makes it the rating system of choice for property owners in Africa. Under a new agreement, the GBCSA is now licensed to certify green buildings throughout the African continent with the Green Security barrier manufacturer Trellidor has introduced two new aluminium designs to their range. Trellidor Security Shutter is an aluminium louvre-style shutter while the Trellidor Aluminium is a sliding trellis-patterned security door made from aluminium similar to the steel versions Trellidor is known for. “There is always a demand for aluminium pro- ducts, particularly in corrosive environments such as coastal areas, so these two news ranges are already proving popular,” said Trellidor marketing and sales director Peter Rawson. Aluminium louvre shutters have been a feature of upmarket homes for many years. The Trellidor design team has taken these shutters to another level in terms of built-in strength but they are still very competitively priced. Internal strengthening features, a patented Trellidor locking system and a hidden mechanism to operate the louvres means there is no external clutter. Sleek, elegant and contemporary, Trellidor Security Shutter provides excellent protection whether the louvres are open or closed. They are ideal for upmarket homes where people need to feel safe but don’t want their security to be obvious, or for cluster home developments that have strict rules about the type of security gates and burglar proofing permitted. The Trellidor Aluminium sliding security gate looks very similar to the steel range that Trellidor is known for, but has no visible rivets, making it a very neat looking security door. It is made from structural aluminium and is therefore suitable for corrosive regions. Design features ensure it operates smoothly, whether used to protect doors or windows and each unit is fitted with a patented Trellidor locking system. Trellidor Security Shutter and Trellidor Aluminium are available through authorised Trellidor franchises countrywide. www.trellidor.co.za Star rating system. The license agreement allows the GBCSA, in collaboration with other African green building councils, to sub-license and use Green Star with their Local Context Report to certify buildings in their respective countries. www.gbcsa.org.za One Airport Square in Accra, Ghana that is 4 Star Green Star SA - Office v1 certified 8 News Watch
