T
he Capital at Menlyn Maine is the second development for the Capital Group by
GLH Architects. The hotel is located within the new lifestyle precinct of Central
Square in Menlyn, Pretoria. The hotel boasts 186 keys on six floors overlooking
the central courtyard on Central Square.
Design
The hotel entrance located on the ground floor is a long narrow space flanked by retail
on either side. The hotel is accessible from Central Square as well as off Bancor Avenue.
The hotel has its dedicated parking located within the central square super basement.
On the same level there is a dedicated lift lobby that takes guests directly to the ground
floor reception. At the basement level, adjacent to the lift lobby, there is a state of the
art hotel gym for guests.
Interiors
The challenge faced with the ground floor was the elongated space with minimal
natural light. GLH Interiors has created a subliminal hotel reception through the use
of rich materials in a modern discerning application. The use of horizontal lines,
mirrors, reflective glass, stone and laser cut screens creates the signature 5 star
reception of The Capital Group in Menlyn which reflects the sophistication of the
Menlyn precinct development.
