Selection and positioning of the correct Movement Joint is critical
Different materials give added protection to the edge of the floorcovering depending on the type and volume of traffic with Genesis offering Aluminium ( Grade 6063 ) and Stainless Steel ( Grades 304 / 316 ) as standard , with optional Brass to suit a wide variety of tiles and installation criteria .
Movement is dictated by the width , and all Genesis types conform to BS 5385 recommendations of 20 % movement , the polyurethane insert is resilient and flexible with a long life span .
Positioning of movement Joints are guided by the subfloor , any changes or joints should have a movement joint directly above them and then 6-8m intervals in any direction .
Always consider perimeter joints in corridors and when the area exceeds 4sq . m and intermediate joints in doorways when tiling from room to room .
