he location of the site for client, Citibank, resides in
the heart of Sandton and the project scope was for a
refurbished area of 7,500m². This A-grade office property,
owned and managed by Accelerate, is strategically located near
key locations within Sandton, including the neighbouring Nelson
Mandela Square, and is within walking distance of the Sandton
Gautrain Station as well as the Sandton Convention Centre.
Citibank required a complete remodelled interior design &
MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) professional service,
for which AECOM partook in the phased refurbishment and the
consolidation of four floors into two floors while working and
moving within a live office environment during construction period
of eight months.

The client required the design team to implement a full
Citiworks project that required the implementation of Citi Global
Workplace guidelines that include workplace design guidelines,
such as the evolution of the workplace and the use of colour and
space planning principles and considerations. Great emphasis in
the design brief and guidelines focused on the implementation
of new technologies and collaborative working environments,
which lead to the design of highly developed spaces that is
equipped with immersive technology for collaborative and work
sharing initiatives.
Other considerations derived from the guidelines was to
implement greater working environments for staff that enforced
clean desk policies, collaborative work sharing, active recycling
