As we near the end of the 2024 , I would like to take a quick look back at the industry from my perspective . Most noticeable this year was the limited number of new office projects on the horizon . The Covid years changed the way we work and hybrid working arrangements seem to have become cemented within many organisations . Whilst there will always be a need for office space and I believe the lack of face to face interaction is to the detriment of creativity and corporate culture , we are seeing new office interiors change to accommodate less staff at any one time , as well as putting in extra effort to make the space as inviting as possible to attract staff back to the office . Multiresidential developments are booming , especially in Cape Town , where a new apartment development seems to be announced weekly . Student residences are being developed near campuses across the country and the need for accommodation does not seem to have reached capacity at this stage . Rural retail developments are also very buoyant , providing access to convenient retail for millions of rural consumers .

I wish you all a well earned break and a successful 2025 .
