Tramway House is located in a prime position on Sir Lowry Road Woodstock . After undergoing substantial redevelopment the building is now the new head office of Denstu , one of the world ’ s largest advertising and marketing companies . Dentsu have consolidated all their business units into one location of approximately 4,000m 2 .

Historical Significance Tramway House is situated within an area of great historic significance , with two of the boundary walls containing remnants of the old Holland Redoubt , one of a number of forts built by the French and Dutch allies between 1781 and 1829 in anticipation of a British attack . Although the existing buildings were not more than 70 years old the developers commissioned a Heritage Report to ensure that the redevelopment took into account the historical sensitivity of the site and neighbouring Woodstock which has contributed to the heritage of Cape Town over hundreds of years .
Existing Buildings The buildings were designed for the Cape Tramways Co . by architects Honikman and Associates in the early 1960s and were completed in 1965 . The building was arranged in three volumes - a seven-storey administration block , which took up the majority of the building footprint , a two-storey operational building linking the admin block with a further three-storey building .
