The facility was envisaged to resolve and formalise the intersection of existing pedestrian routes , as a central node connecting the primary routes serving the northern campus , central academic campus , commercial services , and the western residential campus .
The design now successfully accommodates the complex vehicular patterns of an unfenced academic campus with tight urban and heritage constraints . Located in close proximity to remarkable heritage buildings , the facility reorientates the precinct and introduces a public and service ‘ foreground ’ to the historically significant De Beers building .
