Attacq Head Office
INTERIORS AWARD
The approach to the award winning project for Attacq , a company founded in 2005 and listed on the JSE , focuses on creating a dynamic office environment that blends functionality with Attacq ’ s people-first culture .
Attacq ’ s view for their staff is that wellbeing is a daily act of practising healthy habits and should be viewed holistically . The workspace design is focused on creating a comfortable environment for daily interactions between colleagues and visitors , or focused tasks for individuals by incorporating a mix of considered spaces to accommodate both .
After workplace strategy interviews with AMS staff , interior design firm Design Partnership identified the key elements to retain , such as personal workspaces and efficient meeting rooms . The new office design enhances collaboration with spaces like shaded outdoor areas , efficient kitchen / canteen zones , and quiet rooms , while addressing concerns like reducing noise from VC meetings and creating a brighter , healthier , and cleaner environment .
The flow of the office is designed from two entry perspectives : a client-focused entrance featuring a showcase gallery and modern meeting rooms and a
staff entrance leading to a lounge collaboration space . With a focus on flexible , multi-functional spaces that reflect Attacq ’ s values , the design team have developed a concept that embodies the best practices of a modern office neighbourhood .
While implementing the neighbourhood aesthetic , the approach is also hospitality led . There is careful consideration in the use of materials , colour , and introduction of soft organic forms to break away from the typical commercial interior of the past .
The break-out and connect areas are hospitality inspired , with comfort in mind . This creates a relaxing and inviting experience . South Africa has many cultures which have been subtly celebrated in the space . A homely sense of familiarity was brought into the office through soft furnishings , lighting and objects . This ultimately creates a home away from home . The ‘ Corner Café ’ specifically is a space to be social or take a break and is situated in the core between the business focused meeting area and open plan work space . There has been an effort throughout the space to bring the outdoors in using greenery , natural light and warm timbers to reconnect with nature .
Textures and colours have been incorporated which are inspired by bustling streets and park retreats . These textures have been brought inside to create an interior that is visually interesting and multi-layered .
