DEVELOPERS AND DESIGNERS : YULIYA & DENIS GAIDUK | PHOTOGRAPHY : LIONEL HENSHAW | LOCATION : JOHANNESBURG
Quoin Rock Wine Farm recently opened an exclusive Wine Lounge and Restaurant in Johannesburg to bring the winelands experience to Gauteng . Qbar offers a selection of exceptional wines from Quoin Rock and Knorhoek , together with Grappa , Gin and MCC , all presented and shared by three professional sommeliers , who relocated from Stellenbosch . The adjacent QSushi is a unique culinary space that complements the wine lounge .
Qbar The design was inspired by the essence abd beauty of the Cape Winelands and the rich heritage of wine production in the Western Cape . The vision of designer Yuliya Gaiduk was to create a space that captures this essence and expresses it in Gauteng . Experience an ambience of Stellenbosch Vineyards as you look up to see Cabernet Sauvignon leaves filling the sky of Qbar interiors . You will see features like a hand sketch of Simonsberg mountain by Yuliya , printed at large scale on the fixed glass panel above the main entrance . A brass finished pillar representing the strength and heritage of the vines and their branches and a Cabernet Sauvignon leaf wall panel designed to illuminate the space at night . A combination of beautiful timber and brass finishes , with green marble and smoke mirrors completes the background . Careful attention was applied to every detail and every small piece of art and decor was a key influence behind the overall design and experience .
Service Spaces Head Chef Brenden creates a magical food experience in an open design kitchen . The kitchen is subtly hidden behind four pivot screens clad with brass panels in a laser cut Cabernet Sauvignon leaf motif , created by Charles Haupt of
