The best thing about our industry having its annual ‘ shut down ’ over the Festive Season is that literally everyone is on holiday . There are no emails , calls or meetings for three wonderful , quiet and relaxing weeks .

It ’ s been a busy year publishing six jam packed issues alongside our first ever Retrospective , which at over 600 pages , was a mammoth task to accomplish . Such was the success of the Retail Retrospective , that we have decided to publish another Retrospective in 2024 . This time we will focus on office developments between 2000 and 2023 . As office developments have made up the majority of projects featured over these years , this retrospective will be more curated than the first one , with our team making the selection as to which projects will make the final publication . Not an easy task as there will be so many amazing projects to choose from .

Thank you to all the wonderful professionals , sub-contractors and suppliers who have yet again produced world class work that gives us such pleasure and pride to feature . Wishing you all a well earned break and a prosperous 2024 .

40 JOHANNESBURG SURGICAL HOSPITAL Johannesburg Surgical Hospital , designed by A3 Architects , is a new state-ofthe-art specialised surgical hospital situated in Northcliff , Johannesburg .

52 APEX STUDIOS Apex Studios is a student housing facility situated in Braamfontein , Johannesburg and designed by GASS Architecture Studios .
