Thinkspace , a bespoke South African interior architecture studio founded in 1992 , was approached by well known South African wine and spirits firm Distell ( now Heineken Beverages ) to revitalise the brand home of J . C . Le Roux , the iconic sparkling wine producer .

The initial brief was to create additional outdoor seating areas that capitalise on the scenic views of Devon Valley near Stellenbosch while appealing to a younger , social mediasavvy audience .
Approach The project was divided into several phases . The first phase involved constructing a terraced deck that served as a transition between the ground and first levels . The design aimed to provide cozy pockets of seating on different levels , resembling a staircase . This allowed customers to enjoy their sparkling wine while taking in the picturesque valley views . Additionally , an oversized J . C . Le Roux sign was installed , providing visitors with a perfect opportunity for destination selfies and promoting the brandhome online .
For the second phase , the overflow parking lot was transformed into a lush lawn area . Picnic spots were created under the existing oak trees , and a new children ’ s play area was added , enhancing the overall ambiance .
The third phase focused on renovating the tasting room to give it a fresh and inviting atmosphere . The space was revamped with the use of timber finishes and greenery . Private tasting rooms were transformed into upscale meeting rooms ,
