FWJK Developments recently completed this R100 million five-storey residential apartment building . 7 On Bantry stands on the corner of Bantry and Rochester Roads , which takes you directly to Victoria Road , connecting Sea Point and Clifton . This development enjoys a prime location , offering its residents breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the iconic Lion ’ s Head . This 5-storey building consists of 14 apartments ranging from 40m 2 studio apartments to an exclusive 300m 2 luxury penthouse .
The site presented a set of unique challenges , including its limited space due to adjoining neighbours on two sides , a significant longitudinal slope and strict massing restrictions . Overcoming these obstacles required careful consideration during the design stage to maximise design efficiency and ensure the privacy of both the occupants of 7 on Bantry and neighbouring properties .
The surrounding modern apartments blocks , smaller scale residential homes as well as the breathtaking mountain and ocean views , called for an architectural language celebrating its surrounding context . A modern and minimalist architectural language is an appropriate response to the context of the beautiful suburb of Bantry Bay .
FWJK Architecture set out to create a striking and highly attractive contemporary building that seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings while making a distinctive architectural statement . Simultaneously , the design needed to adhere to economic constraints . This design brief played a vital role in guiding the entire process and shaping the overall aesthetic and functionality of the development .
