was achieved . The areas included a basketball court with pole lights and floods and a run track in the front of the building , where a surface LED fitting with an asymmetrical light was fitted in order to light up the running track .
Façade Lighting An important aspect of this building is the façade lighting . The lighting that is mounted onto the façade in various diagonal lines was achieved by using colour changing Astro Flex and a tremendous amount of planning went into the installation of this . Liquid Lighting had to work very closely with the façade team who manufactured the channel for the light and cable to run so that it fitted seamlessly onto the glass façade .
The whole system is run by a complex programme , which was prepared by Liquid Lighting and the electrical contractor that specialises in such installations . This solution is controlled by an app on a device .
Rooftop Lighting The rooftop area of this building has been turned into a restaurant and chill space for the staff and is also open to the public . This area includes a striking bar with LED lighting integrated into the shopfitting and decorative pendants hanging in clusters throughout the area . There are dome shaped pendants over the pool table and outside the warm inviting ambiance has been created by using festoon type filament lights zigzagging across the space and beautiful firepit spaces .
Flagship Project This project is a flagship project for Liquid Lighting ’ s portfolio and was a team collaboration . Both architects for the gym and offices , along with the client , pushed the boundaries in order to achieve a unique lighting design that complemented the design elements . www . liquidlightingsa . com
Office Lighting Once the gym design was approved and manufacturing had commenced – Liquid Lighting started focusing on the offices of the two companies that were to move into the floors above the gym . The Mont Blanc space design has an industrial feel with big open plan spaces – the open areas had all the services exposed and painted black . They loved working with the industrial look and integrating the lighting to match the look and feel the architects from Cimato Moroldo specified . A large section of various hexagons using LED linear was designed and manufactured to hang over one of the open area spaces and , together with the unique desks and design designed by Cimato Moroldo , this space and the lighting worked well together . Other areas included large dome and ring type pendants , track and recessed linear lighting with LED downlights in the smaller office spaces .
The IUM office space took up two floors above and this space was a more sophisticated and modern design . The boardrooms on the lower level showcased custom shaped pendants , which were manufactured to the shape required . All other lighting within the offices was achieved by using LED panels lights , track lighting , linear lights and pendants . One passage with brick walls on either side required a unique design which was requested by the architects . This was achieved with a luminaire with a special optic lens that casts thin zig zag lines , forming a zig zag effect running down the passage along the walls and floor .
