Although there is a possibility of further extensions to Paarl Mall happening in the future , the first phase had to stand on its own and not feel that it was incomplete . At the same time it had to lay the design groundwork in order to be able to seamlessly align with future extensions .
The challenge of building an extension onto an existing building was ensuring the mall could continue to function during construction . Whilst any inconvenience was kept to a minimum , the fact that some parking had to make way for the new building did necessitate some redirection of traffic and realignment of areas of parking .
