PROFILE OF A LEADING SOUTH AFRICAN COMPANY IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Founded in 1941 by Swiss entrepreneur Hans Rudolph Benecke , Everite Building Products has for more than 80 years earned the reputation of being a world class supplier of building products to the Southern African region and has made its mark in several international countries .

By the late 1940 ’ s the business expanded to such an extent that there were two factories , one at Klipriver , Gauteng and the other in Brackenfell , Cape Town , and both were producing a comprehensive range of flat , corrugated , and moulded fibre cement products .

In 1959 , the company was listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange .
In the 1980 ’ s Everite embarked on a campaign to find a suitable replacement for the asbestos fibres , which led to the introduction of asbestos-free Nutec fibre-cement products . The Nutec brand has become the go-to product amongst building material merchants , specifiers , and contractors .

In 1992 Group Five acquired the Swiss shareholding of Everite and with it control of the company .
In 1997 Group Five bought the remaining 49 % of the share and de-listed it .
During 1999 the manufacturing facilities were consolidated , and the Brackenfell plant moved to Kliprivier . Obvious advantages stemmed from this initiative and resulted in greater efficiencies and cost savings .
Everite ’ s 54-hectare manufacturing facility near Johannesburg is well located and has immediate access to all major road and rail links to national destinations and major ports . The company has branches located at major centres throughout South Africa . Nutec products are distributed through leading stockists countrywide and an established export market further endorses the international acceptance of the Nutec Roofing and Cladding Solutions range of products .
As of December 2002 , all Everite products are manufactured without asbestos as a raw material .
2015 : Hebel – Everite Building Products diversifies into alternative building product manufacture : Autoclaved Aerated Concrete ( AAC ). The Hebel brand license agreement was signed , and second-hand Australian plant acquired .
2017 : Everite AAC plant including new autoclaves fully commissioned : production begins . Since commissioning , Everite Building Products has enjoyed considerable success in the specification of the product to landmark project in South Africa .
May 2021 : Lonsa Group Limited ( Lonsa ), a Mauritian principal investment entity acquires majority and controlling shareholding in Everite Building Products from Group Five . Group Five went into business rescue in 2019 .
Today Everite Building Products enjoys a strong presence in South-Africa and has made aggressive inroads into the international market . Everite ’ s product range is well placed across the building and construction industry , serving the full spectrum of end-user market segments , distribution channels and influences with competitive and quality solutions .
